“On August 31st, I completed my tenure as Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Athens. Historical, multidisciplinary, collegial, supportive, and future-ready, the Department remains a true brother/sisterhood of wo/man. Too many colleagues have offered life-shaping support to thank individually, they know how deeply grateful I am. I look forward to continuing to contribute, not least through the thriving MBA in Strategic Management and Competitiveness with the University of Thessaly.
From August 1st, my professorial research fellowship at the University of Southampton Business School was renamed Professor of Strategy and International Business. Though fractional and research-only, this supports my wish to help co-build these two areas—complementing existing strengths and honouring the legacy of the late John H. Dunning, founder of International Business at Southampton.
With experience spanning five continents—universities, research centres, businesses, the public sector, international organizations, and the “third sector”—I remain committed in adding value through engaged scholarship, partnerships, advice and service, by connecting the dots (including the non-readily visible), questioning even the most self-evident “truths” and leveraging co-opetition, including creative dissent.
In anticipating some of the challenges we now face in Europe, my attached paper-book review of Stuart Holland’s excellent book Europe in question, is a case in point-and reading its concluding section 4 should only take a couple of minutes!”
