Είναι ιδιαίτερη χαρά μας η εκλογή του καθηγητή του τμήματος μας, Χρήστου Πιτέλη, ιδρυτή του προγράμματος μας και συντονιστή της ειδίκευσης «Στρατηγική Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων» σε Ερευνητή Καθηγητή στο πανεπιστήμιο του Southampton Business School (SBS).
Με αφορμή την εκλογή του ο κος Πιτέλης έκανε την παρακάτω ανάρτηση του στο λογαριασμό του στο LinkedIn:
“I am delighted to join the University of Southampton Business School (SBS) as a Professorial Fellow (Research). Southampton is especially important for scholars of International Business (IB), like me. Just as Stephen Hymer’s 1960 PhD dissertation has helped establish MIT as the birthplace of the modern Theory of the Multinational Enterprise (MNE), Southampton University has a legitimate claim to being the birthplace of the IB field, because of John Dunning’s 1957 PhD dissertation which was published the following year as his classic book, American Investment in UK Manufacturing, both while he was a University of Southampton lecturer. Hymer had relied on Dunning’s book very extensively in his thesis. Peter Buckley (2011, p61) had remarked that as regards the genesis of IB, that ‘It would be fairer to date the start point to John Dunning’s 1958 book.
It is an honour to join the place here John has laid the foundations of the IB field, before moving to the University of Reading, where he led the establishment of the Reading School which in turn has branched out to IB centres of excellence worldwide.
Besides IB, Southampton University and SBS’ capacity to marry sciences and social sciences, and the focus on AI, resilience and sustainability, make them perfectly aligned with, and posited to shape, the future of (business) education.”
